100th Day of School
The 100th Day of School is finally here- it's TOMORROW! I'm so excited to see all of your child's hard work on their 100th day project.
All 100th day crafts should be worn or brought in tomorrow!!!
We have an exciting day planned with majority of our school day activities all centering around the number 100.
I hope your child comes home with lots of stories about our fun day.
Thank you for always supporting your children and our classroom!
Box Tops
This is the last week to turn them in for this competition- all Box Tops are due by this Friday, February 16.
Here's what we're learning this week.........
Reader's Workshop- This week we're continue to look for and use patterns in our books to help us read.
Writer's Workshop- We finished our first nonfiction book....All About Penguins! Each child completed a 6-page book filled with information they've learned about penguins. Now that they have this first one under their belts, they will now begin to choose their own topics to write about. Encourage your child to begin thinking about topics he/she knows a lot about (dogs, cats, cars, soccer, school, families, etc.). It's an exciting unit for the kids! We look forward to sharing some of the books with you during an author celebration in a few weeks. We'll let you know as soon as it's scheduled so that you can put it on your calendar. You do not want to miss it!
Math- This week we're continuing our study of subtraction. The students are learning to use manipulatives and pictures to create, solve and record simple subtraction problems.
Social Studies- We're continuing to learn about
George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. This week the students will compare and contrast the lives of these two well-known and respected presidents.
